Dr. Judith Lichtman, associate professor and department chair at the Yale School of Public Health, has been named the C. Miller Fisher Neuroscience Visionary Award Recipient for her work in the field of stroke, especially in examining the epidemiology of stroke.

Dr. Lichtman’s efforts in assessing and developing large databases addressing the disease trends of heart disease and stroke have been recognized in the field.  Her studies on readmission rates and mortality rate after stroke continue to inform best practices in the field, the award organizers said.

The Award will be presented at The Northeast Cerebrovascular Consortium’s 13th annual summit on October 25-26 at The Newport Marriott in Rhode Island

The Award is an American Heart Association/American Stroke Association Founders Affiliate award given annually to an individual in the field of neuroscience who has significantly influenced the mission of the American Stroke Association. The candidate has also made clear and lasting contributions to neuroscience and significantly contributed to the identification and/or treatment of stroke patients.
